When Coupang won't create an affiliate link for a product, we link to its search results instead
Coupang Partners sometimes refuses to create an affiliate link for a particular product. Until now, those products were left as "Automatic conversion failed", and visitors went to a plain Coupang address with no affiliate tracking. Now we automatically link them to Coupang search results for the product name, as an affiliate link.
What it does
- When you save a product, or add it with 유유피에 담기 (Add to UUP) in the Chrome extension, and Coupang won't create an affiliate link for it, we link it to an affiliate link for Coupang's search results for the product title instead.
- Visitors land on the Coupang search results for that name instead of the product page. The search link is still your own Coupang Partners link, so purchases by visitors who come through it count toward your earnings under Coupang Partners' rules.
- Instead of a failure, the editor tells you that the product was linked to search results.
How to use it
- There's nothing to turn on. It applies automatically on the Basic plan or higher with Coupang Partners connected.
- Open the product in the editor, and a yellow notice tells you it was linked to search results.
- To change what's searched, edit the product Title and Save. We search again with the new name and link to that.
- To send visitors straight to the product page, make a link for the same product with 간편 링크 만들기 (Simple Link) on the Coupang Partners site, paste it into the editor's Affiliate product URL field, and save. A link you made yourself always comes first.
Good to know
- Coupang doesn't publish which products it won't create affiliate links for. Trying the same product again gives the same result, and the product didn't show up in a Partners product search for the same name either, so we chose to link to search results.
- We leave out numbers you put in front of the title ("002.", "[49]") and emoji when searching. If the title is only a number, we don't link it, so visitors aren't sent to an unrelated search.
- Products where you already put a link with affiliate tracking stay as they are.
- This doesn't use your Coupang product searches (8 per hour).
- Products left as "Automatic conversion failed" before this update were converted again with this update, and the ones Coupang refused now use search result links (affiliate links you put in yourself stay as they are).
