YouTube first comment — once the video is up, a comment with your link follows automatically
Google approved the comment permission review on September 8, and from September 13, 2026 the first comment works on YouTube too. Write a first comment while scheduling a video through auto-upload, and UUP posts that comment right after the video goes up. The first comment you already used on Instagram and Threads now extends to YouTube.
What it does
- Comment added right after the video is published: when the video goes up at the scheduled time, the first comment follows immediately. No need to open YouTube afterwards to leave the comment yourself.
- Link page address pre-filled: when you create a new post, the first-comment field already contains your link page address. Links in comments on regular videos are clickable when the channel has advanced features enabled (links in Shorts comments are not clickable, by YouTube policy). You can delete it or write something else.
- The same field as Instagram and Threads: when one post goes to several channels, you write the first comment once. The first-comment field takes up to 500 characters on every channel.
How to use it
- Go to Dashboard > Integrations > Scheduled posts > Connect channels and reconnect YouTube. The Google consent screen now shows a new item, "See, edit, and permanently delete your YouTube videos, ratings, comments and captions", so check it. UUP uses this permission only to post the first comment. Accounts connected for the first time after September 13 do not need this step.
- Create a post in Scheduled posts and pick your YouTube account.
- Write in the First comment (optional) field, or keep the pre-filled link page address, and schedule.
If you see "Reconnect YouTube to enable it" under the first-comment field, that connection does not have comment permission yet. Reconnect as in step 1 and the notice goes away. It is available on the same Upload Pro and Ultra plans and the 14-day free trial as auto-upload.
Good to know
- Leave the first-comment field empty and no comment is added. Only the video goes up.
- The first comment is added only to videos uploaded as public or unlisted. YouTube blocks comments on private videos (the default) and on videos with a scheduled visibility, so no comment is added there and a notification tells you. To use the first comment, set the visibility to public or unlisted in the channel settings.
- If the video goes up but only the comment fails, a dashboard notification tells you. Leave the comment on YouTube yourself in that case. The video is not cancelled.
- The comment permission is used for the first comment only. Reading viewer comments or replying to them is not available yet, and we will announce it separately when it is ready.
- TikTok auto-upload does not support a first comment, and the Facebook Page first comment is in the works.
