How to See Threads Insights — Where the Menu Is on Mobile and Desktop, What Each Metric Means, and What to Check When Threads Views Are Missing or 0

Once you post on Threads regularly, you start wondering how many people actually saw each post. But Threads Insights doesn't sit under every post the way Instagram's button does, so finding it is the first hurdle. And even when you find it, Threads views often don't show up or read 0, and it's hard to tell whether that's a bug or normal. This guide uses the official Threads account's announcements and Meta's developer documentation to cover where to open Insights on mobile and desktop, what the views, interactions and followers metrics mean, and what to check, in order, when views are missing or zero.

Before you read: Menu locations and screen layout come from announcement posts by the official @threads account (2024-08-22, 2025-01-23, 2025-07-22, 2026-02-09), and metric definitions come from Meta's Threads Insights API documentation (checked 2026-10). We couldn't find a help-center article dedicated to Threads Insights, so we cite the official account's announcements. Insights features roll out gradually, and the app's screens can differ by version. Anything without an official source is marked "based on public reports". This guide is written by the UUP team, which builds Threads auto-upload.

1. Where to open Threads Insights — app, desktop, and a single post

Insights has two layers: account-wide (profile) insights and activity for a single post. You open them in different places.

What you wantMobile appDesktop (threads.com)
Account-wide insightsThe insights icon (bar chart) at the top of your profileMenu at the bottom left → Insights, or go to threads.com/insights
All posts in a date rangeIn Insights, pick a range → See all to the right of top posts → sort by views, likes or repliesSame flow in the Insights screen
Details for one postTap the post → View activity, or tap it in the Insights post listPost → View activity

A few things worth knowing:

  • Even the official instructions moved the icon over time. The January 2025 announcement says "top right of your profile"; the July 2025 announcement says "top left of your profile." Check both top corners of your profile in the current app and look for the bar-chart icon.
  • On desktop you can pin an Insights column. Per the January 2025 announcement, pin icon at the bottom left → Insights adds an Insights column next to your feed.
  • Web came first. Profile insights launched on web in August 2024, and post insights reached mobile and web in January 2025. That's why "everyone else has the icon but me" was a common complaint for a long time — covered in section 4.

2. What the metrics mean — views, interactions, followers

The Insights screen splits into Views, Interactions and Followers (official announcement, 2024-08). You need to know exactly what each counts so you don't misread the numbers.

On screenWhat it counts (official definition)Also look at
ViewsPost: "the number of times your post was played or displayed." Profile: "the number of times your profile was viewed."Since 2025-07, a list of where people saw it (home, profile, search, activity tab, Instagram, Facebook)
Likes, replies, reposts, quotesThe count of each. For replies: total replies on a root post, but only direct replies if the post is itself a reply7/14/30/90-day filter on the Interactions tab (2025-07)
FollowersCurrent follower count and change over the rangeFollower breakdown by location (country, city), age, gender
Link clicksTimes the URLs you shared were clicked (per link)What happens after the click isn't visible — section 5

Where people trip up:

  • Views are "times," not "people." The official definition is a count of times. If one person sees a post twice, that's two views. So views exceeding your follower count isn't strange.
  • Meta labels views as a metric "in development." In the developer docs, post views and shares carry that label, meaning the counting method may change. Comparing posts from the same period is safer than precise comparisons with numbers from months ago.
  • Profile views and post views are different numbers. Profile views count how often your profile screen was opened; post views count how often a post was shown in feeds, search and so on. Don't add them up or put them on the same axis.
  • Follower breakdown may not appear for small accounts. The developer docs say fetching follower demographics via the API requires at least 100 followers. We couldn't confirm in official docs whether the app screen uses the same threshold.

The reading order from How to Read Instagram Insights — views → interactions → actions — works for Threads too. Threads is conversational, though, so it's useful to also check whether posts that drew replies and quotes pull views into your next post.

3. Date ranges and data coverage — from when, and how far back

  • Ranges on screen: At first (2024-08), profile insights covered the last 7, 14 or 30 days; the July 2025 update added 90 days to the Interactions and Followers screens.
  • Data start in the developer API: Meta's docs say account-insight date ranges reject dates before April 13, 2024, and warn that account insights aren't guaranteed to work before June 1, 2024. In other words, account-level trends older than that are hard to get even with outside tools.
  • Post metrics are lifetime totals. The API reports them with period lifetime — the total since the post went up. If you want daily numbers, the only way is to record them yourself at the same time each day.

4. When Threads views are missing or 0 — check in this order

A zero or blank view count is usually not a bug. Going through these in order usually separates the cause.

  1. Did you just post it? — Metrics take time to update. Treat a 0 right after posting as normal and check again a few hours later (based on public reports; the delay isn't officially stated).
  2. Is it a post with almost no engagement? — Posts with little reach may show small numbers or update late (based on public reports).
  3. Is the app up to date? — Insights rolled out gradually by account and region. If the icon is missing, update the app first, then open threads.com/insights on desktop with the same account. If it shows there, the issue is on the app side.
  4. Is it a repost of someone else's post? — A repost is the original author's post, so no metrics land in your insights (developer docs: repost entries return an empty value).
  5. Is your account restricted? — Go to Settings → Account → Account status to see content removed for violating Community Standards or features you can't use, and request a review if you disagree (official announcement, 2026-02). That said, replies under that official post include users saying "it always shows everything is fine even when it clearly isn't" — a clean account status doesn't prove there's no reach issue.
  6. Is it only you, for a long time? — Replies under the July 2025 official announcement include a report like "my other account works on the same device, but this one shows no views or stats" (user report). Some cases look like account-level bugs; all you can do then is tell Threads through the app's report-a-problem feature (based on public reports).

5. How far link clicks go

Threads Insights shows how many times the links in your profile and posts were clicked (the API's clicks is per-link click count). That's where it stops — Threads can't see which product someone tapped after landing. What the five-link profile limit and click counts do and don't tell you is covered in How to Add Links to Your Threads Profile.

If your Threads profile link points to a link page, you can see clicks per product inside the link page in UUP's stats (from BASIC at $3.99/month; the free plan has basic visit stats). To split traffic by source, the approach in the UTM link guide works for Threads links too.

6. Viewing Threads Insights in the UUP dashboard

When you connect a Threads account as an auto-upload channel, UUP shows Threads insights on the Threads engagement screen (/dashboard/social/interactions), opened from the Threads replies & insights link above the auto-upload list. It's for checking the response to scheduled posts in the same place, without opening the Threads app.

MentionsPublic posts that mention your account, with direct reply

What to know precisely:

  • Per-post metrics list only posts published through UUP auto-upload (recently published posts). For posts written directly in the Threads app, use Threads Insights. Profile views and follower count are account-wide values.
  • A 0 on a just-published post is flagged as normal. The screen says metrics for a just-published post can show 0 because they take time to update. Numbers are shown exactly as Threads returns them.
  • Results are displayed, not stored. There's no trend chart over time or download — for long trends, Threads Insights' 90-day view is better.
  • On the compose screen you can choose who can reply (everyone, accounts you follow, mentioned accounts only, and so on). It can't be changed after posting.
  • Accounts that connected Threads before 2026-09-03 see a reconnect prompt. Reconnect with the same account and allow all requested permissions to unlock it.
  • What it doesn't do: no Threads Auto DM and no auto-follow (why: the Threads automation post).
  • Plans: auto-upload is available on Upload Pro ($8.49/month) and Ultra ($14.99/month, includes Auto DM), and you can try it with the 14-day trial after signing up (no card required). DM Pro doesn't include auto-upload. Compare plans on pricing.

Frequently asked questions

I can't find the Threads Insights icon on my profile

Even the official instructions placed it differently over time (2025-01 top right, 2025-07 top left). Update the app, check both top corners of your profile, and open threads.com/insights on desktop with the same account. If it shows on desktop, the problem is the app, not your account.

My Threads views show 0 — is that a bug?

For a post you just made, it's almost always an update delay. If every post is still 0 hours later or views dropped suddenly, check Settings → Account → Account status for restrictions. Reposts are the original author's posts, so they aren't counted in your insights.

Do Threads views mean how many people saw my post?

No. Meta defines views as "the number of times your post was played or displayed." One person viewing several times counts several times. Views are also a metric Meta labels "in development," so the counting method can change.
