How to Add Links to Your Threads Profile (2026) — The 5-Link Limit, Labels, Click Tracking, and Where to Put a Link: Profile, Post, or Reply
Threads launched with room for exactly one link on your profile. Search "Threads profile link" today and you still get old posts saying "you only get one, so use a link page." That's out of date — since May 2025 you can put up to five links on your profile, give each one a title, and see how many taps each link gets in Insights. This post walks through the exact steps and limits, what click tracking tells you and what it doesn't, and which of the three link spots on Threads (profile, post body, reply) to use for what.
Before you read: The five-link limit, labels, and click tracking are based on the May 15, 2025 Meta rollout as reported by TechCrunch (checked September 2026) and the app screens as of September 2026. The official Threads help entry for this is hard to surface by search, so we cite the coverage. Menu names may change with app updates. This post is written by the UUP team, which builds a link page and Threads auto-upload.

1. Adding profile links — the steps, the 5-link limit, and labels
The in-app steps are short.
- Tap the profile tab at the bottom right.
- Tap Edit profile.
- Open the Links row and tap Add link.
- Paste the URL and, if you like, type a title (label) — with a title, your profile shows that text instead of the raw address.
- Repeat for up to five links, then tap Done.
| Item | Value |
|---|---|
| Number of profile links | Up to 5 (expanded May 2025 — it was 1 before) |
| Title per link | Yes — the title replaces the address on your profile |
| Order | Rearrangeable in the edit screen |
| Account requirement | None — no business switch, no follower threshold |
| Cost | Free |
Two things trip people up. First, Threads profile links and Instagram profile links are managed separately. Your Threads account is tied to your Instagram account and shares its username, but the five links you put on your Instagram profile (added in April 2023) do not carry over. You add them again in the Threads profile editor. Second, "Instagram allows five, now Threads allows five, so I don't need a link page anymore" is a hasty conclusion — section 4 explains why.
2. Click tracking — what Insights tells you and what it doesn't
Along with the five-link expansion came link click tracking. Clicks are counted not just on profile links but on links inside posts too, and you can see them per link in Insights. Before this, there was no way inside Threads to know how many people actually clicked through, so it's a real change.
That said, Insights stops at the click count. Here is what Threads Insights cannot tell you.
| What you want to know | Threads Insights | Where you can see it |
|---|---|---|
| How many times a link was tapped | ✅ Per-link click count | Threads Insights |
| What they clicked after landing (per-product clicks) | ✗ | The landing page's analytics |
| Whether a visit came from Threads, Instagram, or YouTube | ✗ | The landing page's referrer analytics + UTM |
| Whether a product click became a purchase | ✗ | Affiliate reports / store orders |
So if you point each of your five links at a different product page, you'll see which link got tapped — and then the trail goes cold. The page visitors land on needs its own analytics for the story to continue. The easiest way to separate Threads visits from Instagram visits is to add UTM parameters to the link — see How to build UTM links.
3. The three places a link can live — profile, post body, reply
There are three spots on Threads where a link gets tapped. One decisive difference from Instagram: links in an Instagram caption aren't clickable, but links in a Threads post body are. The first link in a text post even gets a card preview.
| Spot | Traits | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Profile links (up to 5) | A fixed spot reachable in one tap from any post. Titles and click tracking | The addresses you keep permanently — link page, store, contact |
| First link in the post body | Gets a card preview, so it stands out. Counts against the 500-character body | The one product or article that this particular post is about |
| Link in a reply | Keeps the body clean and puts the link in the first reply. Less prominent than the first body link | Posts that introduce several products, or long posts with no room for a link |
The operating rule: links that change with every post go in the body or reply; links that don't change go on the profile. If you swap profile links post by post, someone who arrives from last week's post lands in the wrong place. Conversely, if you paste your link page address into every body, the card preview is the same image every time and your feed goes flat.
Reply links carry one practical catch. The Threads app's built-in scheduler only schedules new posts, not replies. If you schedule the body, it goes up on time, but the link reply has to be added by hand. We covered this in detail in How to schedule Threads posts.
4. What to put in the five slots — many products, one link page
With five slots it seems natural to put five products in, but it doesn't work well, for two reasons.
- Products don't stop at five. Group-buy and recommendation accounts keep this week's and last week's products live at once, and five slots fill up fast. From the sixth product on, you're choosing what to drop every time.
- Profile links aren't tied to a post. Visitors come looking for "the product from that post," and a profile link list doesn't say which post any link belongs to.
Here's the layout we recommend.
| Slot | What goes there |
|---|---|
| 1 | Your link page (one page with every product, ordered by recent posts) |
| 2 | Your store / where to buy (marketplace or own shop) |
| 3 | One other channel — YouTube, blog |
| 4 | Contact (messenger channel, open chat, email) |
| 5 | One event or group buy that's running right now (clear it when it ends) |
The point is to pin slot 1 to a single link page. As products grow, you never touch the profile — you reorder inside the link page. It's the same logic as Instagram's five links running out, which we laid out in When five Instagram profile links aren't enough.
5. Doing it with UUP — one link page, reply link added automatically
The UUP link page organizes your products as cards under one address, link.uup.kr/yourname. On the free plan you get 30 products, basic visit analytics, and up to 10 contact/social links under your profile (a UUP watermark shows at the bottom of the page). From BASIC ($3.99/month) you get per-product click analytics and watermark removal — this is where the questions Threads Insights can't answer (section 2) pick up. To see Threads visits separately in referrer analytics, add UTM to the profile slot-1 link.

The reply catch from section 3 is solved by auto-upload. When you schedule a Threads post through UUP auto-upload, the reply field is pre-filled with your link page address (leave it blank and no reply is posted). The body goes up at the scheduled time and the link reply goes up with it, so you don't have to open the app at that moment to add the link by hand. If the reply fails, the body post is not treated as failed — it's already live. Auto-upload is available on Upload Pro ($8.49/month), Ultra ($14.99/month), and the 14-day trial, and the Threads connection stays valid as long as your profile is public (switching to private expires the connection).
In short, the baseline for running links on Threads: link page in profile slot 1, the product each post is about in the body's first link or a reply, and the reply scheduled together via auto-upload. What you end up with isn't five filled slots — it's a structure where you can see which click went to which product.
FAQ
My Threads profile won't let me add up to five links
Your app may be outdated, or the rollout may be staged. Update the app, fully close and reopen it, then check Edit profile → Links for "Add link." Links you added in the Instagram profile editor don't appear on Threads — you need to add them inside the Threads app's profile editor.
If I give a profile link a title, is the address hidden?
With a title, your profile shows only the title, and the address opens when tapped. That's why titles that reveal the destination ("Coupang link") tend to have less drop-off after the click. Leave the title blank and the address shows as is.
Which gets more clicks, a body link or a reply link?
Threads Insights counts post link clicks, so you can compare directly. Generally the first body link with its card preview stands out more — but that's when the post is short and about one product. With several products, keeping the body as story and putting the link page in a reply preserves readability. The most accurate answer is to alternate the two approaches over a few posts and compare in Insights.
